What Is Proximity Key?
by Eddie Rendal -
A proximity key (also known as Push-to-Start, Intelligent Key, Push Button Start.Keyless Access.Keyless Entry or Keyless Go) is a device that enables a key-less entry and engine igniting in your vehicle.
When user is within the proper radius, the smart key interacts through combination of audio and infrared waves with your ECM to lock and unlock car doors and even to ignite the engine while having the key in the pocket.
Way back in 1998, Mercedes-Benz was the first to present this platform in their vehicles.
This days, automobile drivers can utilize smart keys and push-start ignition on nearly every vehicle models and use functionality as alarm, automotive counter theft protection, mirror adjustment, remote start and many more.
